But you know how you love cookies and try different varieties, but mostly you just dream finding the perfect chocolate chip cookies so you make every version of them? That’s my donut quest- I want to try to find that perfect glazed baked donuts that tastes like a fried donut. Chocolate Glazed DonutsMaybe it’s not possible, but it’s worth a shot. I finally got inspired to make something today! I confess, I haven’t been in a cooking or baking mood. Mostly I just read books, clean, pack, eat, and repeat. I considered making blueberry muffins, but that sounded boring. I’d heard of strawberry donuts before, so I figured I could make a blueberry version. It worked, and they taste amazing! Cake donuts loaded with juicy berries and topped with a berry glaze. They might be the healthiest donuts I’ve ever eaten!

Fresh Croissants- so buttery, flaky, and insanely delicious!These are so buttery, flaky, and crisp. There’s nothing quite like a fresh croissant, and since who knows when I’ll find myself in France (someday, hopefully), I make them myself. And you know what? It’s extremely rewarding!

Fresh Strawberry Muffins

I admit, before this, strawberry muffins weren’t something I’d ever considered making.

Strawberry muffins- loaded with fresh berries and topped with a berry glaze, these muffins are packed with flavor!

I love strawberries fresh or in ice cream, but baked? I was afraid I’d lose that sweet berry flavor! I asked for suggestions on Facebook for what to bake with all my fresh berries, and a friend suggested muffins. I said I’d give it a shot, and wow, I’m so grateful she said that! These are amazing. Proof that other people are much smarter than I am. 🙂 These are a perfect breakfast, treat, or even dessert. The glaze is sweet but adds a nice shot of flavor. You can definitely skip it, though. I was able to do another cooking demo at the Farmers’ Market yesterday! I was so excited because this time I knew what I was getting into, but I had no clue what to make. I wanted to make another dessert or breakfast type food, and I needed to include an ingredient from the market. I decided to attempt crepes, which I’d never made before. Memorial Day weekend flies by way too quickly. I lost my aunt Diann on Thursday, and it was such a shock that I baked away on Friday to distract myself. We left for family camp on Friday evening and just got back home on Monday afternoon, so it sank in slowly. She would have been 69 on Saturday, and she was always smiling. I miss her already! One of the last things she told me was that she loved my blog. Now every time I’m baking or blogging, I think of her and it makes me smile. It’ll be a long time of healing for my family, but we’ll get through it together as always.

I’m so addicted to english muffins. If I buy a package, I end up eating them all within the week. Once they’re toasted and smeared with peanut butter, honey or jam, I cannot resist. They’re the perfect snack or breakfast! They’re so good, yet too expensive for my tastes. I’ve been searching for the perfect recipe for awhile now, and this one is really simple. I love it when I have all the ingredients at home!

Easy Breakfast Sandwiches

Easy Breakfast sandwiches- 4 ingredients and you have a protein-packed breakfast!

Are you a morning person? I’m really, really not. My brain is all foggy and sometimes I wake up just feeling sick. Coffee makes me jittery so that’s not much help and if I eat sugar, I usually crash and am starving a few hours later. Stomach growls are kind of awkward when you’re sitting in the middle of a classroom where you’re not supposed to eat! To solve this social dilemma, I make breakfast sandwiches that are packed with protein to keep my stomach quiet until lunchtime. All you need is english muffins, some bacon, cheese of your choice, and an egg!
